WHAT IS FOP?
The Fraternal Order of Police is the nation’s largest law enforcement organization, with over 300,000 members and over 2000 lodges throughout the United States.   Founded in 1915, the FOP represents professional, full-time officers from all agencies of law enforcement.

The FOP is law enforcement officers striving to improve their profession by improving working conditions, wages and benefits, and by monitoring legislation affecting law enforcement on the local, state and national levels.

Through the years, the FOP has developed and built upon a proud tradition of leadership in national law enforcement affairs.  This tradition continues today, in its avocations of service programs for its members and dedication to serving the public through protection and safety.

In 1915, the organizational goal was to bond together law enforcement throughout the nation.  Today’s members can be proud to be a part of the largest law enforcement organization in the country, bound to brother and sister officers by a long tradition of fraternalism.  in the

NATIONAL LODGE
The National Lodge Board of Trustees is comprised of six nationally elected officers and a National Trustee from each State Lodge.  The National Officers are elected by the delegates attending the Biennial National Conference which is held in the odd numbered years.  Your National Trustee is elected from and by the delegates from your State to the Biennial Conference.  The Board of Trustees carries out the programs and resolutions of the delegates.  National Committees are appointed at the Conference and assist the Board of Trustees in carrying out these programs. The Biennial Conference is unique in that each Lodge is allowed one delegate for every 50 members, with a minimum of one vote for each lodge.  This unique process gives all lodges equal representation of their membership.

FOP Journal
The National Fop Journal is a professional law enforcement publication provided to each member.  The Journal supplies a wide range of law enforcement articles, FOP reports, legislative news and new products and services.

LOCAL LODGE/BLUE MT. LODGE #9. OFFICIALLY FORMED ON FEBRUARY 20TH 1997
A local lodge is a fraternal organization made up of law enforcement officers from a given community or area. The local lodge is an independent body in the conduct of its own affairs.  The local lodge officers are elected and Constitution and By-laws are drafted and approved in conformity with State and National By-Laws.  The activities of the local lodge in its own community are innumerable.  Most local lodges also provide many benefits to its members that departments are unable to provide. Each local lodge is a member of the State Lodge and is represented at state board meetings and conferences by trustees and delegates elected by the local membership.

STATE LODGE
A State Lodge can be formed whenever a state consists of three or more local lodges.  A State Lodge has its own Executive Board and Board of Trustees with its own Constitution and By-Laws.  Each State Lodge provides the specific programs and assistance needed for the local lodges of the State.
The State Lodges across the country make up the Nation Lodge, with state elected trustees and delegates representing their respective states at National Lodge meetings and conferences.
